JOEYS TAKING LEAPS AND BOUNDS AT YAMBA GOLF & COUNTRY CLUB

Under the keen and watchful  eye of AAA rated PGA Professional John Wright, Yamba Golf & Country Club is introducing a new wave of young players aged 6 to 16 to the game of golf.

Each Tuesday, John and his squad of 40 kids can be seen in their bright blue and white uniforms practicing their golf skills.   Beginners start in the “Joey’s  Junior Squad” and will be promoted as their ability improves.   Those showing good progress and talent move into the “Futures  Junior Squad” where they will be taught the more technical and finer points of golf.

The mantra for the development of these players is “Positive Reinforcement” and it seems to be working, as numbers increase each week.  John’s aim is to increase his squad’s capabilities and enthusiasm for the game, encouraging them to become Junior Members of the Club,  obtain a handicap and then to participate in Golf Camps and Junior Competitions.  Who knows, perhaps one of these young students will go on to be our next Karri Webb or Adam Scott?

The clinics are held Tuesday afternoons from 4pm until 5pm and parents are encouraged to attend and assist.  Basic golf equipment is provided.

For further information on the  Joey’s Junior Golf Clinics, please phone John Wright, PGA Professional at Yamba Golf & Country Club on 6646 1656.
